Valentines Date at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon

It's already March and i'm just writing about my valentine's date! :D I've been busy the past couple of weeks preparing for Jean & Rosz's summer shoe collection! Hopefully you'll all love it, and i can't wait to share them (hint: think neons and color blocking). Anyways, back to my valentine's, K and I spent it at Hong Kong, we don't usually celebrate valentine's and make a big fuss about it, honestly i don't get the hype that comes with it (sorry!) BUT when you spend it someplace else, now that's a different story! haha ;) K surprised me with a trip to Hong Kong and a reservation at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, i was really surprised coz like i've said we don't make a big fuss over valentine's day, but a nice surprise i might add! I've heard great reviews with the restaurant so i was very excited! Upon entering, you'll be greeted by a friendly host and escorted to your seat. We chose the bar area because you'll be able to see the  chef's in action there. It's like watching Top Chef but i get to eat the food! Everything we ordered came out so beautifully plated, but there were some hits and misses with the food.

Amuse Bouche - Cauliflower Cream w/ Crispy Bacon
a great start! loved the combination

LES ASPERGES BLANCHES  French White Asparagus w/ Citrus Confit

just ok nothing too exciting about this dish

L'OEUF DE POULE Pan fried chicken egg with Sweet Corn Cake and Parmesan Cheese

loved this dish! plus the addition of shaved black truffles made it extra special

L'OIGNON DE ROSCOFF Traditional French Onion Soup w/ Beaufort Cheese Gratin
great presentation but a little salty for us

LE FOIE GRAS Warm Duck Foie Gras w/ Caramelized wings and Risotto 
the best foie gras we've ever tried! it was cooked to perfection!

L'ONGLET DE BOEUF WAGYU Pan Fried Wagyu Beef Flap w/ Shallots and Crunchy green beans, Black Pepper Sauce
it was cooked to a perfect medium but we've had better steak

MASHED POTATO
rich and creamy! yum!!!

LE MARRON Chestnut mousse w/ Raspberry Meringue and Chestnut Ice Cream
again great presentation but just ok tastewise

LE CHOCOLAT Chocolate Biscuit, Chocolate Cream and Chocolate Ice Cream
this was sooo good! a perfect ending to our meal

PETIR FOURS
the macarons were a little too sweet for me but i appreciated the extra dessert ;)

Cappuccino with Caramel Sauce
love that they give caramel sauce as sweetener!

added bonus: We saw Chef Joel Robuchon there!!! 

I wonder what's for valentine's next year? ;)

Colored Jeans

I seldom wear jeans but since mid last year i am loving the colored jeans trend. And i'm really glad it's still big this coming summer and there are already a lot of colors coming out because i can't find most of the colors i want last year! I only have a red and a green one. Here's how i wore them:

But i'm still on the look out for a cobalt blue one 

 and some neon pastels. Love the color! Hope i could find some soon! :)

I'm appreciating jeans more this year ;)

Lolo Dad's

As i've said a lot of times in this blog, i love love food and of course i enjoy it more when i am with great company. So for my christmas lunch with childhood friends we decided to go to Lolo Dad's Cafe in Malate.

Interiors with a big open show kitchen.

We all decided to order the degustation menu. And i have to say, it was sooo worth it! It was a memorable meal and a perfect year end lunch.

Complimentary bread basket with butter.

Garlic Pimenton Prawn w/ Spanish Caviar and Grilled Chorizo on vacuum cooked cantaloupe. 

Super enjoyed the prawn!

Honey and Macadamia nut oil glazed Duck Breast and Pan Fried Duck Liver. Cranberry marmalade, young lettuce and popcorn salad. 

I love duck breast, i love duck liver and i love macadamia! love X 3!!! ;) So this was my favorite of all! 

Truffle Powder dusted Diver Scallops w/ Three Pea and Soft Potatoes. 

My 2nd favorite dish! The scallop was cooked perfectly! Light but very flavorful.

Calamansi sorbet

Roast Tajima Wagyu Ribeye w/ Braised Ox Tongue, Goat's Brie Cheese Fried Pie, Shallots, Mushrooms. 

Just ok for me, i've had better steak and i'm not fond of ox tongue but i really liked the fried brie cheese!

Dark Valrhona Chocolate Cannoli w/ Fresh Strawberries, Vanilla Almond Ice Cream and Rosemary Butter Cake. 

I loved this too! I thought i was too full to finish this but i just can't help myself! haha i guess it's that good!

I can't wait to go back as there are a lot of dishes in the a la carte menu that i still want to try. I highly recommend this place for those special occasions and romantic dates. Valentines day is coming up, i suggest you make reservations now! More date place options here.
